Consciousness and the Big Bang

“One does not become enlightened by imagining

figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”

Carl Jung

Let us always keep in mind that when we talk about the Big Bang, we are simply working with a model.

In those first moments after the explosion, when space and time are created, is consciousness also created?

Yes.  If we start from the premise that the explosion of something the size of a marble, without origin, without antecedent, can give birth to a universe -or many, depending on the theoretical physicist- somewhere we have to fit a primordial consciousness.  In a primordial soup.

And so nothing is more natural than to consider the possibility of the existence of an all-pervasive, extra-bodily consciousness.

But the truth is that the Big Bang model is much more sophisticated than its Internet version.  For example, it considers in principle- the non-existence of a Universe -or a greater consciousness- with its own existence.  Thus, their realities are relative to the complexity of the interrelationships inherent in them.

Just as consciousness does not "exist" in any part of our body or mind, it is what allows us to perceive reality and a very strong sense of self.

The parallel we draw between consciousness and what is conventionally called the Universe is between the consciousness continuum and the mass-energy continuum.

Obviously, those who make the parallel are the consciences of the scientists who develop or follow the model, because, without confirmation from a creative entity, we don't know where consciousness or mass energy comes from; we don't know where they go; we don't know what their roles or qualities would be.

We don't even know if consciousness could be born out of the unconscious.
