Detecting Consciousness

A drifting boat makes no more than a vertical movement when a sea wave passes by. There is propagation of the wave, it passes through the boat, and yet no matter is transported.
In the same way, what we perceive as the Arrow of Time is nothing but a succession of conscious states that we understand as our lives. And the more of these states we live in, the more we classify them as experience.
Like the wave of the sea, we could say that the perception of the external spreads through our senses. It is as if we were processors, using the function of information, but without transporting any kind of concreteness.
Our existence is defined by two primordial factors: the Consensus and our relationship to the Consensus. How we deal with what happens to us defines who we are. Something like "when life gives you a lemon, make a lemonade."
The amplitude of the waves, or our actions and thoughts, are what prints -in the other- the answer, creating the states of being, the successive states that consciousness stores as experience.
Just as the waves from a grain of uranium can kill us, the waves from the sun can give us intense pleasure.
It is in modifying, training, pacifying, and constantly monitoring our conscience that we find happiness.
